A Contemporary Griot
The mantle of a griot was passed down to me from my relative Donald Meade, the acclaimed jazz historian. As a child, I was amazed by his intriguing stories, which would be delivered through oral tradition. I made the decision that the story not only needs to be spoken, but written so that information is not lost when the griot passes away. This is why I consider myself to be a contemporary griot. Like my predecessor, I too am willing to share dynamic stories, but I also understand the value of placing information in a book. I am available to serve those who want to take the journey, but are unsure about where to begin.
